YOU can Help Build Tomorrow’s Manufacturing Workforce

Pennsylvania is the 6th largest manufacturing state in the United States. In 2011, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, 12,100 new manufacturing jobs were created. We are facing a severe talent shortage to fill these manufacturing jobs and need your support to impact this increasing challenge.

Join Western Pennsylvania Manufacturers in support of the 8th Annual Southwestern Pennsylvania BotsIQ robot battle competition in March and April of 2013. More than 500 high school students are already registered to build their best robots applying what they know about engineering and manufacturing while learning key values along the way.

According to Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett’s Manufacturing Advisory Council, the #1 recommendation for encouraging growth in the manufacturing sector is to support  “Adopt a School” programs including competitions like BotsIQ.  BotsIQ is a proven program that provides hands-on training and provides an educational pathway to manufacturing careers.

BotsIQ continues to provide students with a true manufacturing experience and has proven to be a career path for many of the participants.  According to Donnie Miller, Miller Plastics, ““We just hired one of the students!! These trades, especially machining, are so important to keep America competitive in the future. “

How can you help?  BotsIQ needs your support.  You can adopt a school, volunteer at the competitions, provide plant tours or support through much-needed financial contributions.

Right now, your future employees are building their robots, with attention to safety and a meticulous documentation of the entire process.   All of these skills are preparing them for careers in manufacturing.  They need your support now!

This is a great chance to promote the career opportunities available in manufacturing and for manufacturers to meet some of the young minds involved with BotsIQ.
