NTMA Apprenticeship Program: The Numbers are In… and They’re Up!

One hundred seventy seven apprentices.  That’s a pretty impressive number!  We’re proud to announce that we have 177 students enrolled in the Pittsburgh Chapter NTMA Apprentice Training program this year.

Classes kicked off the second week in September and will continue through the spring.  The four-year training program began in 1976 and combines classroom instruction with hands-on training on the job site as we prepare students for the next step in their manufacturing careers.

We’ve seen an increase in enrollment over the past couple of years which may very well be a sign that potential employees are getting the message:  Manufacturing jobs are available in southwestern PA– and a job in manufacturing is a solid career choice.

The students enrolled in the program come from nearly 70 different companies across our region, and other large employers have indicated that they’ll be sending apprentice candidates our way in the coming years.
