Those that attended the Fall National Conference in Nashville came back reenergized with a lot of great information. One of our members also came home with a prestigious award!
Special congratulations go out to Jeff Kelly of Hamill Manufacturing. The NTMA awarded Jeff with the NTMA’s most prestigious service award; the “L.A. Sommer Memorial Award”. This award was established in 1959 in honor of our Association’s first Chairman. It was created to recognize individual members for their many years of exceptional service, dedication, and leadership in our industry, and on behalf of our Association.
We’d like to share some of the highlights from the award presentation…
In 2004 Jeff joined the NTMA Executive Team and served as National Chairman in 2007. During Jeff’s Chairmanship he launched a concerted effort under the sponsorship of the NTMA Government Affairs and Education Teams to seek multi-year Federal funding for the development of recruiting and training centers in some of our key chapter areas. This program was initially named PJAM “Precision Jobs for American Manufacturing, later changing to AMPED “Advanced Manufacturing Practices and Educational Development”.
Jeff also served as NTMA’s Interim CEO for 3 years after the resignation of the Association’s President in January, 2005. During this time, he spent countless hours at the NTMA headquarters to ensure that NTMA had the necessary leadership in place to represent the members of NTMA and the manufacturing industry, while searching for an Association President. He also implemented numerous streamlining and cost saving initiatives.
Jeff currently serves on the NTMA Board of Trustees as the Ex-Officio Trustee (started in 2008) and currently serves on the NTMA Insurance and NTMF Boards (on both Boards since 2009).
Congratulations to Jeff for this national recognition. We thank you for all you’ve done to support, grow and improve our association!
