We’re proud to say that Pittsburgh Chapter NTMA companies are a reliable source of information about industry issues. When there’s an important story about manufacturing, local reporters and producers know they can count on our member companies for solid responses that reflect the climate of southwestern PA manufacturing. Last week we told you about member company Accrotool in the news. This week, We’d like to tell you about more “member press”.
On October 12, the Pittsburgh Business Times (PBT) ran a story entitled, “Pittsburgh-area manufacturers express concerns about looming sequestration”. Opening the article was NTMA member, Kurt J. Lesker Co.. While the story was focused on manufacturers’ concern about looming Defense Budget cuts in Washington, it also highlighted that companies like Kurt J. Lesker, while earnestly working to keep defense contracts, maintain a diversified client base to weather an uncertain economy. The Clairton-based vacuum technology manufacturer makes night vision among other military products.
It’s also worth special mention that Chuch Deventura, vice president of operations, was quoted in the article as saying, “Financially, it’s important to us to keep that business; it’s also important from a social standpoint. We like to do things to support our troops.”
